AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Austin startup has built one of the world’s first automatic tattooing devices.Blending man and machinery, Blackdot is now tattooing customers at its studio in East Austin.The first customer to receive a custom design was Kevin Rose, a technology entrepreneur who flew in from Los Angeles to receive his tattoo. USPS to shut down UT post office at the end of January

AUSTIN (KXAN) – University of Texas students will soon have leave the Forty Acres to send mail home. The United States Postal Service said Wednesday it will shut operations at its campus post office on Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. USPS told KXAN its lease at the West Mall facility at 306 Inner Campus Dr was not renewed. According to its website, the Postal Service maintains more than 25,300 leased spaces in its facilities inventory nationwide.While USPS looks for "viable options for another location," it said postal customers can get full retail services at the Central Park Station at 3507 N. Lamar Blvd. from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. USPS also said P.O. Box customers can get a new P.O. Box at the following locations for the duration of their current term at no additional cost: Central Park Station, 3507 N Lamar BlvdCapitol Station, 111 E 17th StWest Austin Station, 2418 Spring Ln According to USPS, P.O. Amber Alert discontinued for Comal County girl

BULVERDE, Texas (KXAN) -- An Amber Alert that was issued early Thursday morning was discontinued. The alert was issued overnight for a girl from Bulverde, Texas, but it was discontinued later Thursday morning after the girl was found. Bulverde is a city in Comal County located about 35 miles north of San Antonio. Police were searching for a 21-year-old male in connection to the abduction. It's unclear if they found or charged him.

Dakota County libraries end overdue book fines

The Dakota County Library system will no longer charge customers who return items past their due date.As of Jan. 2, there are no overdue fees on items for any age group and those who were previously blocked from checking out items can use the library once again, the county said in a news release.The county is currently home to nine libraries, said Scott Wente, Dakota County communications specialist, and will add a 10th next month with the opening of the new Kaposia Library in South St. Paul.In 2022, the county removed youth fines and as a result, “more items were checked out, more youth received library cards and items were returned at a similar rate,” according to the county.Items should still be returned to the library by their due date and most items overdue by 42 days or more will be considered lost and billed to the account. South Glens Falls woman falls 100+ ft., grabs onto tree before cliff

NORTH HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A South Glens Falls woman fell over 100 feet down South Dix Mountain before grabbing onto a small spruce tree, preventing her from going over a vertical cliff face. According to the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the conditions included pouring rain, deep snow, slippery ice, and a soaking wet spruce tree cover. Several hospitalized after crash involving van transporting developmental disability patients

LOUIS - Multiple people were taken to the hospital after a crash involving a van transporting those with developmental disabilities.The good news is that all of the injuries were non-life-threatening. The crash happened at North Florissant and North Grand in the Fairgrounds neighborhood of north city. Poultry farmers file lawsuit against Tyson Foods after Missouri plant closure

STODDARD COUNTY, Mo. - A group of poultry farmers has filed a lawsuit against Tyson Foods, just months after the company shut down a processing plant in southern Missouri. The lawsuit claims there was false representation and a breach of contract on behalf of Tyson Foods prior to the plant's closure in Dexter, Missouri. Missouri expecting two rounds of winter weather The lawsuit alleges that Tyson did not disclose the possibility of closing the facility. It cites arrangements made as early as November 2021 and asserts that Tyson concealed various plans to shut down the plant.
